Our Exquisite Tea Room in Toms River

Step back in time to the late 1800s and treat yourself and your loved ones to the pleasure of a Full Victorian Afternoon Tea at the Mathis House. Leave your cares behind as you enter this beautiful mansion decorated and lovingly restored to its original splendor. Experience the stunning antiques that grace every room of the home, creating a vintage atmosphere that is both elegant and relaxing. 

Enjoy the ambiance of the tearoom with its crisp linens, fine English Bone China, teapots with cozies, and tiered luncheon servers. Savor the Victorian Afternoon Tea Presentation, graciously served by attentive staff, which includes a freshly brewed pot of tea of your choice, a seasonal salad, a petite cup of soup, a homemade scone with clotted cream & lemon curd, and an assortment of five different types of tea sandwiches and a full plate of home-made desserts.

Afternoon Tea reservations for the five-course tea are required with advance payment of $50 per person plus tax and gratuity on weekends, $20 for children 12 and under, and free for children five and under.  

We offer a daily prefixed menu with gourmet options that everyone will love.  If you have a special dietary request or if you are celebrating a special occasion, please specify when making your reservation. For birthday celebrations, we have special birthday tablecloths that are set at your table with your own birthday tea party hat! 


The refund policy for cancellations includes the option of carrying out without 24 hours' notice and or a gift certificate that may be used for up to two years of the time of purchase.  No refunds are given for pre-payment of the Tea Service or events, but a credit is given when occasions arise that your reservation cannot be kept.  A courtesy call with adequate communication is recommended to ensure your reservation is rescheduled.  The Mathis House is very flexible and understanding.  Email vweiss@mathishouse600main.com at anytime if you should ever need additional assistance with your reservation.
